The toughest part about being involved with a Charity like the Pink Finss is having to say goodbye to the women we have gotten to know over the years. The first half of 2016 has been especially difficult with several women passing. I think the hardest part is seeing the impact this has on the children as they must face with the rest of their lives without their mother.

For us, we can take some comfort in knowing that the Charity have been able to help the women through a terrible time and will continue to look after their family.

Fly high our beautiful angel’s, we will miss each and every one of you.

Each loss is a reminder to take nothing for granted, make the most of your life and Never Waste an Opportunity to Tell Someone You Love Them!

PINK TIE BALL 2017

Another wonderful and magical night was had on Saturday 11 March 2017 at Hawkesbury Race Club, as the outdoor betting arena was transformed for the 2nd annual Pink Tie Ball.  Hawkesbury Race Club CEO Greg Rudolph set the night off with a bang (literally!) taking to the stage welcoming all 410 guests to the Race Club and acknowledging the importance of community support in getting behind the Pink Finss Charity to make it the success it is.  Mumm Champagne was a sponsor of the evening and Mumm Party Poppers were a plenty every time another bottle of Mumm Champagne was opened in the room, streamers were showered everywhere and the laughter was contagious.  So much fun had by all.

The night was filled with emotion and it was hard to hold back tears as Nick Bulmer and Alaina Olejarnik took to the stage to tell their heart warming stories of a much loved Naomi-Leigh Bulmer, who spoke at the Pink Tie Ball in 2016, and who tragically lost her battle with breast cancer in November 2016. Naomi-Leigh’s husband Nick was overwhelmed by the community support that he had received, and said he continues to receive much needed help still, as he comes to terms with raising his 3 small children without his beloved wife Naomi-Leigh by his side. Naomi-Leigh’s best friend Alaina gave a purely truthful and beautiful account of her special friendship and how she will do whatever it takes to ensure that Naomi-Leigh’s legacy continues, particularly in Naomi-Leigh’s three surviving children.  There was not a dry eye in the house and a standing ovation followed as Naomi-Leigh was celebrated and remembered very fondly.

The fundraising began at that point and it was hard to believe the depth of generosity in the room.  Peter Chidgey of Ray White Real Estate worked his magic as the live auctioneer and had bidding wars happening all over the room.  Bachmayer Orthodontics sponsored a $5,000 holiday raffle, and the House of Fraser at Castle Hill once again sponsored a $3,100 “diamond necklace” from their Hearts on Fire range that was unlocked and won on the night.  Another big thank you goes to Skin Fitness at Richmond who set up a lipstick lab where ladies could design their own shade of lipstick to buy.  There were also limited edition shades called “PFC Live It” and “Naomi-Leigh” which sold like hotcakes.

Party band the “One Hit Wonders” had us dancing up a storm and the night was a massive success.  The grand total raised was in excess of $65,000.  WOW!

Of course a night does not have such success without many helpers.  A big thank you firstly to all of the Directors of the Hawkesbury Race Club, together with CEO Greg Rudolph, for hosting the Pink Tie Ball.  Also to Lea, Jo, Alison, Tony, Rick, and Gary at the race course for their hard work and dedication behind the scenes.  Also the wonderful team at By George Event Hire & Styling who transformed the area into a space worthy of a ball.  It was absolutely spectacular.  Photos are available through Carla Costa Photography.

Finally to the wonderful community who continue to come to our events and support our cause.  We can only do what we do because you enable us with your generosity.  Whilever we have money in the bank we will continue to spend it helping women and their families diagnosed with breast cancer.  We are passionate about what we do and we share that passion with the community who embrace the Charity as their own.  Thank you!
