Pink Finss Charity’s 5th Race Day – One to Remember
The recent Pink Finss Charity annual Race Day, held at the Hawkesbury Race Course, will certainly be a hard one to beat. Not only was it a sensational day, but the Charity also raised a record breaking $70,000 on the day. This was then followed by a generous donation of $10,000 by sponsor Ontrak Engineering and another amazing, yet anonymous, donation of $20,000 bringing the final tally to $100,000.
With 400 guests inside as well as a few more seated outside, everyone got into the spirit and enjoyed a day packed with racing, balloons, raffles, auctions, great food and good friends. The Board of the Race Course even managed to get their hands on a San Francisco 49ers #38 jersey, just days after Jarryd Hayne was selected, which they kindly donated as an auction item.
While it’s is a day for celebrations, it’s also a time to acknowledge the struggles some women are facing in their battle with breast cancer. Everyone in the room was touched by Karen McLean’s brave speech about her situation and how she copes with Stage 4 breast cancer. Her raw honesty left few dry eyes in the room but also earned her a large round of applause as she stepped off the stage.
The $100,000 raised on the day means that the Pink Finss Charity will be able to continue helping women and their families dealing with breast cancer.
The Pink Finss Charity would like to thank everyone who attended or donated prizes as well as the sponsors, many of who have been supporting the Charity for 5 years; Angels Florist, T&L Fowler, Agnes Banks Equine Clinic, Richmond Club, Griffin Air Conditioning, JPS Drainage, White Design Construction and On Trak Engineering.
Special thanks to the MC Kelli Bickerton who did a masterful job and Kylie Pitt who captured the day with her usual flair.
